Best Schools in Moroni, Utah: A Complete Parent's Guide for Families

Moroni sits on the west side of Sanpete Valley along State Route 116/132, a farm town of 1,544 people (2020 census) founded in 1859. It's best known as the home of the valley's turkey industry, and for something many families don't expect from a town this size: a two-way Spanish–English immersion program right at the neighborhood elementary.

Moroni is also the middle school town for the whole north end of the valley. Every 7th and 8th grader in North Sanpete School District goes to school here.

A Parent's Guide to Moroni Schools: Questions and Answers

Which schools will my child attend if I buy a home in Moroni?

Moroni Elementary (K–6), then North Sanpete Middle School (7–8) right here in Moroni, then North Sanpete High School (9–12) in Mt. Pleasant.

How do I check which schools a specific address feeds?

For homes in town, the path above is straightforward. If you're looking at farm ground or acreage outside city limits, call North Sanpete School District at (435) 462-2485 with the property address to confirm the school and bus stop before you write an offer. I check this for my buyers on every rural property.

Can my child join the dual immersion program?

Dual immersion classes have limited space and start in the early grades. Contact Moroni Elementary at (435) 436-8291 to ask how enrollment works for the grade your child is entering. Families from elsewhere in the district can apply through North Sanpete's open enrollment process, subject to space.

Is there bus service?

Are there charter schools?

There are currently no charter schools in Moroni or elsewhere in North Sanpete School District. Utah's statewide online charter schools are available to Moroni families.

How do the schools perform academically?

I point families to the Utah School Report Card, the state's own yearly data on test scores, growth and graduation rates. Then visit the schools and meet the principals.

What about special education, 504 plans and IEPs?

North Sanpete School District provides special education services and 504 plans. If you're moving with an IEP or 504 plan, contact the district before you move so services carry over without a gap.

Do schools affect home values in Moroni?

Not much within town. Every Moroni home feeds the same elementary, middle and high school. What moves value here is lot size, water rights and water shares, outbuildings, condition, and how close you are to town versus out on farm ground.
